Hanging With Not So Ordinary the Coathangers

Who would have thought that a joke will produce a contract with a record label and three albums?

That is what happened to the all-girl band The Coathangers from Atlanta. In 2006, the band was formed out of a joke. They were asked to open for The Hiss after they played on a house show. They also opened for the Black Lips in New York City.

The Coathangers is originally composed of four girls but with the departure of the band’s keyboardist Candice Jones last year, the band decided to stick with the original three members, Minnie Coathanger, Meredith Franco in real life; Rusty Coathanger, Stephanie Luke in real life and Crook Kid Coathanger, Julia Kugel in real life.
