THE LEGENDARY AEROSMITH
Aerosmith’s “Dream On” and The Modern Lovers’ “Roadrunner” battles for the official rock Song of the Commonwealth in the state of Massachussets. Unfortunately, it seems that fans and politicians alike are siding with “Roadrunner” and are oppose to “Dream On”, according to the hearing committee in Beacon Hill. No witnesses or sponsor of the bill H3597 were there to support the hearing at the State Administration and Oversight Committee.
The Lead sponsor Rep. James Cantwell (D) for the “Dream On” project, momentarily missed the hearing but he has arguably defended the rock song as a power anthem of the state’s spirit. One of the reason why Cantwell fought for this song is that it culminates the story of the Band’s rags to riches experience. Born and bred in the state of Massachussets, the band ultimately shot to superstardom in the late 70’s and early 80’s. “Dream On” also captured the very anthemic spirit in striving to always dream that something good is about to happen.
